I have a 97ZJ with a Dana35 3.73 that is blown. Instead of attempting a rebuild, would I be able to directly swap in a Dana 35 3.73 from a 96 XJ?
Did they use the same setup in the XJ & ZJ during the 96-98 timeframe? Would it be a direct bolt-in or require major modification?
Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

The XJ has leaf springs and the ZJ uses coils, you would have to cut the spring perches off and weld on mounts for the coil springs, not worth doing all that work to a Dana 35. If you want a better axle a Dana 44a out of a V8 ZJ will bolt in, or if you don't care to do some fabrication a Ford 8.8 out of a 90s model Explorer is a great option.
