Are the RC 3.5" short arm kits really that bad?
I bought the 3.5" short arm kit for my 94 JGC. I knew the name and the price was right so I ordered one up. Now I'm reading a bunch of bad stuff about them. So I am asking are they really that bad for a weekend cruiser/light trail use? I did get a RE trackbar & braided brake lines. I just wanted to throw some 31-10.5-15 tires on it with some black d-windows. This is not my daily driver maybe take it to work 2-3 times every couple of weeks. I have not done any 4wheeling with it as of yet.

This is the kit I ordered http://www.roughcountry.com/jeep-sus...it-636-20.html . It has the shocks, front springs, lower arms for both front and rear, rear track bar bracket, TC drop kit, & longer sway bar links. I added the quick disconnects for the sway bar and the steering stabilizer to the kit from RC as well. I also bought the RE trackbar for the 3.5"-4.5" lift, new stock front springs that will be used for the rear, and the RE braided brake lines.

It should ride ok, a little stiffer in the rear maybe. Those new arms are a hundred times better than the stockers.

Use the new springs, you already have them and I don't think there will be a difference in ride quality between the old and new. That kit should be an easy install, maybe a day at the most to install. It took me forever to finish my long arm install. Nothing went as planned from the very start.

There are quite a few brand snobs on the forum. I have a Rough Country long arm kit on my ZJ and I have no issues or doubts of the quality. I'm very pleased with it and save close to a grand than if I went with Rubicon Express or Clayton.

It's an age old question. Some love them some hate them. My experience wasn't very good but that was a few years ago on a TJ. As you can see some have had great luck with them.
Ask about any brand and someone will hate or love it and there's probably already a lot of threads about that same subject.
Looks like you got the better shocks so it shouldn't be to bad. As for the rear springs, the more you wheel the more crap you'll take with you so the ride will smooth out.

My XJ came with a RC 3" lift on it when I bought it must say it was a POS and I replaced it a week after I got it. But some have them and seem to have no real problems to speak of.
I plan on a small lift on my 04 WJ a 2" but going with an "Old Man Emu" kit when I do so far it's still stock and a DD.

What were the issues with your kit? Seems like the more I read it's the guys with the XJs that seem to have all the complaints.

Only issue I've had with RC on my XJ is that my lift sagged almost an inch in just under a year, I had even got the HD coils because I planned on a bigger bumper. Ended up replacing it with RE. Still have RC rear shocks but those will changed to 5100s soon.
