Default please help. scratching sound in front..

i have a scratching sound when rolling in front i can feel it slightly in steering wheel & brake pedal. sounds like a stuck rock.. but no... so i now took off the rotor dust covers, new pads, new caliper, new caliper bolts and still a chit-chit-chit noise. it gets faster with speed oh & i put new lukis gear oil in. when i spin wheel by hand its quite and the tire is tight. im loosing it...... what the hell is it driveshaft is not touching nothing. plus its in 2 wd right now anyway.. someone please anyone.. whats going on....

it could be an axle shaft cv-joint, or even a drive shaft u-joint or double cardan joint or cv centering ball maybe... that's if you for sure ruled out front wheel bearing/hub.

on the front drive shaft. there is a single u-joint at the axle end, and two cardan u-joints at the transfer case end. the centering ball is stuck right in the middle of the two cardan joints.
if it is not the all time 4 wheel drive version (249) transfer case, you can remove the front drive shaft and test drive it to see if it goes away.
if it is the all time 4wd t-case, then you shouldn't remove the front drive shaft and drive it. not only will the jeep roll when in park, but you may destroy the viscous coupler in the t-case.

I had a similar problem with mine. I changed the front u-joint on the front driveshaft and that cured it.

ok so i went this morning to look all u joints seem perfect in fact the front axl looks to b pretty new. and its the driveshaft with the rubber boot. i read that in that if something is bad u have to replace the whole shaft???? & my jeep is a select a track. man does it sound like a scratching set of pads or a stuck rock. but it couldent b so easy.. i have always done my own repairs . but replacing everything i have & checking everything else im now hitting a brick wall.
