Default Oil in the water

I have a Grand Cherokee
Year Feb 2000
3.1 DIESEL WJ

VARIANT: 8 L 4 B

Now I have ENGINE oil in the water.

I know it has to be the gasket or even the block cylinder but I only want to make sure that there is (or not) an oil cooler where there could be a leak of oil that mixws with the water.

DOES SOMEBODY KNOW IF THIS MODEL HAS AN OIL COOLER IN IT?

Thanks

I would love to help, but I am confused. You have oil in your water? Are you taking about having oil in you coolant. If so are you sure it's oil? Or are you getting water in your crankcase?

Most common problem would be a head gasket. If it does have an oil cooler it would probably be leaving oil in your parkin spot

Check the oil to see if there's antifreeze in it. It could also be a cracked transmission cooler. I just had this happen to my 97 ZJ

Check the tranny fluid level to see if you're loosing tranny fluid. Hope this helps you out. Tony

Yes sir. I´m sure. It´s oil from the engine that is coming into the water reservoir.
It looks like the gasket is gone or even worse...
Thanks

Thanks Tony but there is no problem with the red transmission fluid.
It´s a completely black oil tthat comes from the engine.

The question I want to know is if somebody knows if this model has an oil cooler.

It could be the last question. Just in case there it´s the failure and oil is mixing with the water.

My 99 doesn't have an oil cooler. Someone may have added one and if they did, it would be air cooled, so no water and oil mix.

Personally, I don't think there is anyone on this site that's familiar with your 3.1 diesel. I frequent militaryjeepers.com and those guys know about diesels. If you would like me to inquire, send me a private message. You have to be military or ex-military to post on that site, although you can read it.
