I have been trying to troubleshoot the oil leak on my ZJ. I have a 5.2L and it is dripping from around the bell housing. From what I can tell the oil is not coming from the bottom of the bell housing, but higher up the drivers side.

I have read many different posts and found that the oil can come from a few different places, valve covers, the oil pressure sending unit, the oil filter adapter and the rear main seal.

I was wondering if there is any other places the oil can come from, also if a rear main seal would leak from higher up engine? I figured if it was the rear main seal that the oil would leak out from between the bell housing plate and the engine. If the oil pressure sending unit leaks can it send oil on the drivers side of the engine?

There is another place oil can come from. It's the tappet chamber underneath the intake manifold where it seals on the block. I haven't had a Mopar V8 apart since '65, but my 383 had just a thin sheet-metal plate sealing this area.
