You can get a new transmission, but you would most likely have to get it from the dealer. A reman is not just a used transmission, everything inside that is a wear item is replaced and the case is cleaned and inspected. Having your transmission rebuilt means replacing all of the soft parts (seals), replacing the friction parts (clutches), cleaning everything and then inspecting all of the hard parts (planetary gears and shells ect), and replacing what is needed. Rebuilding yours may cost more in labor because of added labor for tear down and re-assembly, but cheaper for parts, where as going with a reman trans would only have R&R labor and the cost of the transmission.

$1500 for a rebuilt one isn't bad. I'm in Clarksville, and my Jasper rebuilt one went for $1900 installed. If it's a Jasper tranny, it should come with a 3 yr/36k mile warranty on it.

The best price for a "new" 46RH I have found is the factory Chrysler. Little better than $1700.00 exchanged. 3 year 100k warranty including towing if the thing dies.
Pick a Part has them for less than $75.00 if you can find one.
Local to upstate NC/lower VA, sub 100k miles are going for $500 used.
YMMV
