Default No intermittent wipe...

Last week my '93 Grand Cherokee Laredo 4.0 lost its intermittent wipe. The wipers still work but on normal speed when an intermittent setting is chosen.

Consulting my Haynes, I've come across an "intermittent wiper module" on one of the wiring diagrams - is this likely to be the source of the fault? I have been told that this module is in some way part of the wiper pulse board - is that true and how do I get to the bit which I need to change, please? When I get close to it, how will I recognise it?

The module you speak of is behind the left side kick panel, it's a little black box velcroed to the metal behind the kick panel.

Thank you, gentlemen, for having come back to this so quickly. I understand now that it's that little black plastic box but I can't find it. I have removed the small L-shaped panel on the left, under the controls panel for the side mirrors, but here is another almost black fixed surface directly directly below it and I can't see anything which looks like the "wiper pulse control board" - indeed, I can't even find room for it! Is it in the big space behind that L-shaped trim panel (which is fixed by two screws and locates with two spikes with rubber pads) - perhaps even much further in and stuck to the metal firewall bulkhead or is it behind the slightly bulged trim panel directly below the steering wheel?

The one on my 95 is directly behind the left kick panel.

The one on my 1995 XJ was velcroed underneath the steering wheel colum, ever other one I have ever seen was behind the kick panel except mine and the XJ I got the part off in the JY. The only way I found it was when I was at the JY and the box was hanging in the donor vehicle, then I followed the wiring back up and the velcro mounting strip was right directly under the steering colum, under the trim panel!!

Haha! I've got it! Thank you all for your help. I think that, probably, the main reason for my having appeared so dim is that I misunderstood the term "kick panel" - I thought that it referred to the panel(s) in front of one's legs, above the pedals but below the steering wheel. Then freegdr's explanation got me looking at the little angular panel on the left which you were surely all talking about all of the time! Unfortunately his photograph didn't come through until this morning, once I had already got the offending bit out into the light of day.... Brilliant, so now I've got to find one in the scrappy (junkyard) but at least I know where to look now!

Got the bit for $10 (over $350 in the main dealer!) and have made the swap and it works!

Thank you all once more!

Out.

My 2005 JGC 5.2L hemi has no intermittent wipers. I looked at the relays but only see relays for on/off and fast/slow. Does that mean it's a deeper problem?
