Newbie Needing Coolent Info
Hi im Dan from England, new to Jeeps but liking it alot, have a 2001 3.1 td Cherokee, having a few issues, firstly the cabin temperature takes along while to get warm and never gets roasting hot, coolent low light has come on but ive checked it over and has plenty of coolent in!
2nd Issue is slight oil leak from somewhere near back of engine but i cant see where, any information on week spots would be great. The oil leak does not bother me as its had it a while by looks and not using hardly any at all!
Many thanks in advance Dan

The low coolant sensor is in the overflow holding tank. My WJ wants the level above the full hot mark to stay off. You may have a flow restriction in the heater hoses or core that's slowing down your heat. Disconnect both hoses from the engine and flush with a garden hose. You'll be able to see if it's too slow. Flush it both ways to clean it out.
If you have a V8, check the oil pressure sensor for leakage. It's at the back of the block at the firewall, behind the distributor or cam sensor. The leakage will run down the back of the engine and drip off the bellhousing. The 6's do the same thing but it runs back along the oil pan flange and drips off in the same place. It's funny that they can leak and still function.
Welcome to CF. There is a lot of information here. Read the other posts and you can find out a lot about your jeep. I'm not familiar with the 3.1. Is this only an export engine? Is it a diesel? We have a bunch of guys here from England and Scotland. We even have one from Norway. Trying to diagnose some of these overseas units is tough. I'm glad you mentioned where you were from. It helps conciderably.
