Default New member, needs help please "service 4wd system"

Hi all I'm new here and I used to love jeeps till we bought this one (see sig for jeep details)

K here's the deal .... We bought this jeep a year ago with 121,000 kms on it for 25,000 out the door. Great truck lots of power good on fuel, first 2 weeks had to put in a starter, then the heated seats and rear reverse sensors stoped working. I dident really care nither did the wife, so all was goood for a year motor, drivetrain etc, now we got a " service 4wd system" on our way home from the mall and the truck felt fine till we got home 25 km drive then an hour later we went out and it felt like all the diffs were locked up around corners (not good) no engine codes or anything, so we brought it in in the morning to where we bought it from they called an hour later and says its fine they just cleared the codes they said, 100$ later ( guess that's there fix clear the codes) b.s.
so brought it to work and it happend again service 4wd system and locked diffs
Driving me nuts
Any ideas? Can't afford to bring it in and them tell me nothing's wrong

Default maybe need to invest in a code reader

It may be throwing codes, but not a big issue. I'd get a code reader to delete codes and then maybe try small logical solutions (fuses, fluid, vacuum leaks etc.) until the codes stop. If it's not making noises, it's probably OK.

I don't know the newer 4wd systems, but for my ZJ, it's simply a transfer case, oil and linkage. There isn't even anything electrical involved in the 4wd system. When they break, it tends to involve a large hole in the case.

K thanks its just strange that when it happens it feels like the front diff is locked right up like its in 4lo and sometimes when she shifts from park to revers it sounds like its grinding but if I shut the truck down and start it back up everything's fine untill you get 10 km down the road and it happends again ><

Sounds like this is the electronic traction control system. I believe in that system, the front diff is controlled electrically to transfer torque when needed. If so, It's totally beyond my understanding.

My Jeep makes a grinding/rackling noise in reverse as well. For me it's just the exhaust rattling off the crossmember (because mines bent). As acctnut suggested I'd be looking into vaccum leaks and fluid levels before worrying too much about any catastrophic failures.

Thanks guys gona try some checking around, but I'm pretty sure this truck is full te AWD and it feels like when the service 4wd system message comes on almost feels like the front diff thinks its in 4low and locks up can't corner what so ever strange. We paid 2000$ extra for the warrentee witch covers internals and this sounds like a computer f up witch is not covered so the trubleshootimg can get expensive.

As I said before, some of these systems have a locking front differential that is electrically controlled and air pressure activated. This might be the source of your problem.

You know, I really don't know what I'm going to buy for my next vehicle because everything is so loaded with electronics that a person can't possibly fix it themselves. I'll probably wind up with an older TJ where everything is simple. My uncle owned an old CJ5. He used a garden hose to clean out the interior! That's MY kind of simple.

Of course, I'm a 68 year old grumpy old fart.

It's funny cuz fixing that cluster of wires also fixed the heated seats and rear assist lol wires going to transfercase also hooked to seats and rear sensors damn technology these days
