Default New Jeep Owner/Need Help

Hey guy's just bought a jeep a week ago, got it for a steal I hope or I got shafted.. But anyway

2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited
4.7L V8 Automatic QuadraDrive
202K Miles

From 0 to 20 not a sound but from 20 and up I get this sound like its got big mud tires on it.. Running about 55 it sounds like a locomotive inside the vehichle. but from 30 to 45 it kinda shakes a little in the front. Also when I take a sharp right turn it will kinda groan and also feels like its dragging/grinding..

I have wheel bearings ordered for it. already have 1 new one installed on the driver front..

Have rebalanced the front tires, checked the diff fluid front and rear, no signs of diff issue's, I have checked for drive shaft play and still tight.. So any idea's?

Wheel Bearings, ujoints, ball joints, tie rod ends and such should be inspected. Jack up each corner of the vehicle and check for play in each tire. Both up and down, as well as side to side.

You should find your culprit fairly easily like that.

Sounds like you probably have a T/case problem. Check it by doing low speed tight turns. If it hops or grinds, it could be a problem.

Actually it does flare up when I am trying to turn into say a parking spot. I really don't know how to describe it. It's not so much as a grind as more of rubbing I guess.

This is going to sound stupid, but check your plastic fender liners for rubbing. I have 245/70R16s on my '00 WJ and they've rubbed before. One came loose from snow pack and is only 1/2 there now.

Yep I checked and they have descent clearance, going to get it in the garage tomorrow, and check a few other things. make sure the transfer case has fluid in it, and maybe get it up in the air, and air drive it and see if it makes the same noise..

I just know it is starting to feel weird, especially after a tight/sharp turn, feels like a wheel is almost loose or something. I was told that a wheel bearing can cause that cause they are trying to seperate or something.

I'd start with wheel bearings.

U joints are probably bad. My 97 shook like crazy until I had them all changed out both front and rear ones. No bearings left inside the joints to speak of. Also how's the alignment?

Alignment is a little off but not really noticeable unless you are really looking for it. As of right now instead, of just throwing money at it I am just driving it. The service tech at the dodge dealer took it for a drive and he said it's a constant noise there is no sound pitch it stays the save no matter what you do. He even got it up to speed threw it in neutral no change. He said it could possibly be the e brake shoes. But the sound is 100% coming from driver rear.. We just made a trip in it and it done fine 2 hour drive and getting 22 mpg average 18.4..

Check the rear differential for proper fluid. If the fluid is old your rear end will make noise. Mine did until I had the differential drained and put in new 90 wt oil. Don't skimp on the alignment unless you want to buy new tires in a big hurry. I had one done recently as my car was WAY out of alignment and ate the heck out of my tires. Had to buy new tires due to cupping. You don't want that to happen. Alignment is much cheaper than new tires anyday. WOW 22 MPG is wonderful!!! Never even on a great day could my 94 GC get over 20. My present 97 gets around 17 on a good day. I steer clear of stealerships. You need to find a good mechanic who knows his stuff.

My 96 is doing the same thing and it was the front pinion bearing.. wondering if it can be replaced or does the whole third member need redone.
