Default Motor swap ?

Will a 4.0 from a 96 XJ work in a 94 ZJ?Would I need to swap the computers or anything else?Would it be a direct bolt up or need mods? All responses are appriciated. Both Jeeps have the Command trac and auto AW4.

Just swapped the 4L in my old 93 ZJ (belongs to my cousin now) with one out of a 96 XJ. Had to swap some of the brackets for alt, ac ect but everything else worked fine. I used the tranny out of the 96 as well because I knew it had a fresh rebuild and the 242 out of the grand. Got lucky that the input was the same.

So it should be a direct bolt in?No computer swap or anything like that?

I used the original intake and tb but only because the one on the new motor was broken. Same computer and such. Pretty easy swap.

I would rather have 6 correct answers than 100 wrong answers any day.

Theres times when i wish i wasnt a MOD here.. this is one of them. I'd like to insult you as you have done to the membership here.

Instead i'll point out the misinformation you posted.

a 94 ZJ doesnt have an AW4.

a ZJ and XJ are the same "make".. just different models.

I had quite a bit more typed up.. but i'm expected to be polite around here.. so i had to delete it. Damn..

Thats ok dude .I'm about done here anyway.By the way ,it's an insult that I get on here everyday and try my damndest to help everyone I can and when I need some help nobody chimes in.That to me is a slap in the face,so insult all you want cause I don't give a damn either. My last few posts have gotten few or less responses combined.I see why some are going elsewhere.

How many people on this forum do you think have actually swapped a motor? Sorry my little bit wasn't enough. If you've ever swapped a motor you'll be fine. This was my first Jeep but I lost count on the small blocks from my muscle car days as well as trucks I had before I got the Jeep sickness.

You're funny troy. Do you really think people will chime in to help you after you insult them? You got your answer, ever think that others checked in, saw you alreayd had the correct answer, and left rather than posting the same info again?
