Here in the WindyCity we literally went from having furnaces on Sunday/Monday high 30* at night to today AC on Tuesdays being in the 90*s Unbelievable right?

The worst part is although I thought I was prepared with replacing the leaky AC hose and professionally recharging the AC system...

Not sure what the problem is now, perhaps the blower motor/fan maybe failing or ?

Not sure exactly what the deal is but today I'm driving down the Eway eveything is working fine until the fan cuts out? I feel the cool air in the vents yet no blower? A few minutes later she starts blowing again then cuts out and had nothing for the next two hours while picking up my son and heading home.

I'm still checking fuses and doing some preliminary research but wtf if its not one thing its another with this vehicle. For those of you that have not read my posts, I bought this vehicle used in February from a back yard garage used car salesman, who buys them rebuilds the engines what have you and flips them.

Any trouble shooting suggestions are appreciated. Thank you.

I have a zj that does this and it's the connector to the blower motor it self. I just wiggle it and it started working again.

Thanks HighSteer. Isn't that a beach! What engineering ha?

Is it easily accessible? May I ask exactly where that blower plug is found, behind the climate control or ?

I'll try doing the same thing and see if my goes on.

I appreciate your help. Thank you.

PeterB.

Under the glove box perfect HighSteer. That will save me a little time. Thank you.

Thank you too Bones. You are very kind, I appreciate the link lead. I haven't had much time to do anything yet. Tuesday's overnight Nicholas (N) stays with me as well as every other weekend, alternating holidays etc. Its an hour commute each way from where Ns mom chooses to live. Between dinner, homework, reading, showers prayers, making N breakfast his lunch and leaving to get to school by 9 leaves like time to google anything let alone this. But thank you I will. gotoo run. Have a good day guys.

Just a word about this weekend. Memorial Day we honor all the men (and women) who lost their lives defending this country. Don't forget the sacrifice.

Even if you don't agree with several of the past wars, remember the fallen who did the job asked of them.

Perhaps somebody else will google it for you Peter. That way you'll have more time for the more important things in life. You know like uploading gobs of pics of your latest play dates and cocktails.

And maybe one morning you'll wake up and realize the gremlins stopped by overnight and fixed your jeep for you.

Good evening-

Based on HighSteers lead. I did some looking around under the glove box and found out what the problem is... Surprisingly its not the blower as I had surmised. The friggin switch that connects to the resistor to the blower is all melted and burned up!

Another ingenious design by the sophisticated engineers at Chrysler. What a crock of chit. How can the Chrysler engineers do such a poor job in designing this ??

Someone else had mentioned its a common problem in these cars the switch on the blowers resistor get so hot that its causes malfunction.

I took some time and scraped, cleaned it out as best I could. Plug it back in and blower started to work. Not sure how long it will last?
The resistor is about $90. I'll hold off a little longer, see what happens and go from there. At least I think I have the right diagnosis on this.

Not sure but if you have AC issues you may want to put this on the list of possible trouble shooting candidates.

PeterB

*Special thanks to HighSteer for the trouble shooting post. Thank you. I appreciated it. Goodnight.

OMG! You have burnt connector plug and you are balking at spending $90 on the fix. Ahhhh, yes but that $90 can buy 2 bottles of Single Malt Glenmorangie to impress the ladies............NOW I understand.

Hey Chumley, when you catch the dash on fire from using that melted connector, make sure you get a picture of your latest play date right at the moment it bursts into flames. I wanna see the look on her face. It would be priceless. Better yet, maybe with all the money you are saving on auto repairs, you could mount a GoPro camera in there and capture it on video.

Don't be stupid..............replace that resistor. You could do without that $36 bottle of scotch a few times.

And remember darlings: It's better to look good, than to feel good!

Hey, fishbone! I seem to remember a guy who sprayed WD40 on his blower fan while it was running. It caught fire and he lost the whole car! Doesn't that just bite?

Yes. I'll have to replace it. I don't want to take a chance of having a fire happen.

Had a close call once. On the EWay driving and there was smoke coming from my hood area. I pulled over open the hood and there was a fire in front of the passenger side. I was on a return trip & happen to have my CB radio with. I did a MayDayMayDay on her. A good ol gent in an 18 wheeler pulled over and ran to my Jeep with an extinguisher. Put out the fire n got back on the road. I happened just about that quick. Ever since then I always carry one in my trunk.

That said it makes a mess and I certainly would want to avoid going through that ever again.

Unfortunately, I'm currently $100 over drawn on my checking account line credit so it will have to wait another couple weeks or so...

Thank you for the heads up. I'll change it out ASAP.

Enjoy your day Guys.

Being overdrawn and owning a Jeep go hand in hand.
