Default maple syrup smell

My jeep keeps letting off a smell that I can only describe as pancake syrup. Any ideas? The smell is in the cab and on and off.

sweet smell is usually coolant. In my old blazer it would get that smell in the cab sometimes, it was a small leak in the heater core.

Thats the smell of hot anti freeze. Your either over heating or you have a leak. My radiator cracked at the inlet hose (upper hose) and it would only leak if the engine was at operating temp. So check for small cracks on the plastic tanks (right and left side) of your radiator.

Default i love that smell and hate it at the same time

as a good starting point, check where you park, if you see a leak look under the hood, if theres no signs of leaks than sniff around the floor mat under your dash and feel for wetness(that sounds dirty) flashlight always helps... outside cab is probably a hose inside cab probably the core as stated above...

If it happens when you turn the heat on it could be the heater core.

if it is your heater core leaking you should be able to feel moisture in the passenger floor board if not pull the carpet back from the top and check for dampness
