Here's the scoop.....gonna look at a 2004 jeep gr. cherokee laraedo tomorrow to buy from a private party,,,,only 56,000 miles.....seller says it has a v6....I went online & googled specs on the model, & I am getting conflicting stories!

Old fart with a wrench
The 4.0 inline 6 is the most durible of any engine Jeep used. However, it is a torque motor designed for pulling at lower speeds. Don't expect stellar acceleration. My 97 ZJ has 198K on it with no rework and still doesn't use any oil and has 40 lbs oil pressure at idle.
