Default Location of Trans Computer 05 Grand Cherokee V6 (Code P1637)

Hello everybody, this is my first post here. I just recently purchased a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo with 68K Miles. The jeep ran good for a few days but now the transmission seems like slipping. I had a local transmission shop scan it and they are telling me i am getting the code P1637 which is coming from the transmission computer.

Can some one tell me where is the transmission computer located at? Is there any way it can be rebuild?

Thanks in advance !

The '05 Grand Cherokee doesn't have a separate Transmission Control Module. The trans is controlled by the Powertrain Control Module, the same as my '04. Mine is under the hood on the pass. side. Hope that helps.

hello, first post here as well. im not going to make a new thread just yet if i dont have to so ill bump this thread.im in upstate ny. My 05 grand cherokee laredo, v6 3.7 AWD automatic is acting as though the tranny is slipping and i pulled a p0700 code then scanned it with a transmission scanner and pulled p1637. I am leaning toward replacing the transmission control module at this point but i would like to hear from others with experience first if im on the right track.

the jeeps drivability is getting pretty bad now..it always shifts but acts like its skipping when you try to accelerate. at times it acts like it should stay in 2nd or 3rd gear longer but will shift to drive and lug down and start skipping and bucking until i floor it to have it shift down and get going. Before the light came on i thought it was the plugs or something because it almost acts as though its missfiring but i guess its in the tranny according to the codes that are coming up now.
thanks.
