Leaves and crap blowing out of my vents?
With the weather starting to turn warm, I'm just starting to use the AC on full blast on my new 01 wj. Yesterday when I did however, my girlfriend and I started noticing little bits of leaves and dirt and crap blowing out of the air vents onto our clothes and the interior. Also, I detailed the inside when I first got it, and had noticed after a few days of running the defroster, there would be specks of dirt and crap in that dish or whatever below the mirror where you put you keys, change, phone and whatever. Is there any way for my to clean out the duct system and or atleast where the air is pulled in from the outside of the truck? I can't really find any info online, other then a suggestion to close all the vents except one and blow it out with a leaf blower.

You could remove the blower motor, and try to vacuum or wipe out the housing that it's in, as well as the squirrel cage itself. The problem stems from our Jeeps not coming equipped with a cabin filter, normally. And, in most cases, you need to buy the cabin air 'kit' as well, information can be found on that here:

I'm assuming you're talking about your 89? I don't believe there is a cabin air filter that will fit your Jeep, however air is taken into the plenum underneath the windshield wiper cowl cover. Take that off and vacuum it out. Then take out the blower motor and use a leaf blower to back-blast the stuff out of the plenum and the intake side of the heater and A/C cores. Then vacuum out the cowl plenum again. With the blower motor out, you should be able to clean out the ductwork with the leaf blower into all your dash and defroster outlets. Instead of a leaf blower, you may be able to use a shop vac that has a blower feature. Then you'll probably need to detail the interior again.
Take a piece of window screen and install it under the cowl vent holes and maybe a piece of furnace filter over the heater intake hole. That should take care of it.

No Im actually talking about my new baby, my 99 WJ Grand. Just bought her a couple weeks ago. Love it so far tho, BIG upgrade over the 89. Fighting the urge to lift tho, theres a 4'' kit on cl for $150. I dont wanna give up my 18mpg.

Okay, there is a kit for the WJ. They didn't come from the factory with one unless the buyer ordered it. Mopar has the kits from the dealer.
I'm seriously considering a 2" lift on mine, but staying with my 245/70R16s. I just need some clearance for snow pack.

Forgot to mention the PO of my wj installed a 2'' lift, makes it look decent and have better clearance.

My thought exactly. Did he do it with springs or spacers? I've been told if I went with 2" springs, I'd only get about 1.5".

He used 2" spacers. I'm now thinkin about a set of upcountry springs to give me the little extra I need to clear 31s.

Wait! My 245/70R16s are 29.5" tall. With a 2" lift, I see no problems with 31s except buying new rims. I haven't seen inch sized tires in 16", only metric. If you went to 245/75R16s, you'd add 1" to the rolling diameter or 1/2" in vehicle height. They are 30.5" in diameter. If you went with a wider tire, you may have rubbing problems at full lock. Maybe not, 255s are less than 1/2" wider then the 245s.
Okay, 255/75R16s are 31" tall. They are also 10" wide. Sounds like the right tire for you. They are a bit expensive, however, but not when you consider buying 15" rims so you can run inch size tires. Your call.
