I have just gotten a 95 Jeep Grand Cherokee Orvis. I want to put on a mild lift. The info I have is that the Orvis came with an UpCountry lift kit, longer springs, and upgraded shocks. Giving it like 1'" lift over the regular set-up. I would like 31" tires on the stock rims? Is it possible to put the 31's on with the UpCountry set up?
What comes first the chicken or the egg? Can I buy the tires first, then the lift, or the lift then the tires.
Thanks for your input, I hope to have some pics soon.

You'll get some rubbing on turns, and lots on flexing with the 31's, but nothing you can't live with until you get the lift. Unless you want the lift first to be safe of course. I run 245x70x16"s on mine, and those are like 29.5x9.5 and there's no problem as you can see.
And Welcome to CF.

Tires are the only thing that was not perfect when I checked this Jeep out. So I know I need to deal with them first.
Oh, is it a WJ, ?? 95 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.2 Orvis. How can I tell? Hood decal? Door decal?
All I know is I can't wait to get it dirty.

I will not be doing serious off roading and will use this as my daily driver. Do I just get spring spacers 2" or go all out and do the total 3.5 lift with new springs, shocks, brake line extenders, etc.
Will either cause wear on the u-joints? Will one have better performance than the other.

Mine sits about the same as yours does in the picture. I posted a pic to my album, but it's not great. Hope to be addin more in the future, with upgrades.
I just want to be able to take my family wheelin and camping on the lake. I will also like to be able to still tow my dirt bike trailer, and manage to get my canoe on top.
The spacers sound like the affordable answer without to much work. I do have a mechanic background so building my jeep up will just be more fun. I am on a limited budget but do like to do things right. Just not sure what that is yet.
Thanks for all your input,
Huff

I checked out the pic and it looks pretty good. You'll probably get kidded about the running boards like I did but it doesn't bother me. I might modify mine later on but not yet.
