Cool Jeep Cherokee Stalls after idling for long

I have a 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo limited 3.7l petrol with around 150k miles
I recently started have a problem where the car stalls after a long drive stuck in traffic
  • The car stalls when the engine is running without moving after an hour
  • During highway drives the car runs perfectly
  • In traffic the rpm of the car drop and becomes unsteady and car stalls
  • when the car is turned back on a noise of something hitting is heard
  • when taken to a mechanic they replaced the spark plugs and coils as they got a engine misfire error
  • I had replaced the starter Mortor a few months back and still sometimes it does not turn on and shows a “transmission over temperature” warning
  • the engine temperature reaches the halfway point when the problem starts
Hope someone can help me out

I just had this similar problem ended up being the black connector on the computer I had to cut it out and resplice a new one. Wiggle that connector while your car is running and if it does it could be it. I have a fix for it I can send you a pic of what I built if that ends up being your issue
