Instrament Cluster Blacklight Problem
I am stumped. I have been searching the internet and I have found similar issues but nothing that seems to be the same.
In my 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee: All of my lights in my instrument cluster work expect the back lighting for the gauges. It just decided to stop working. I think that I have checked the appropriate fuses and they seem to be ok.
I read on another site that they dimmer switch may be the cause but as far as I can tell the dimmer switch works fine, or at least it does with the odometer and center console (heater controls, radio, etc).
All of the other lighting in and around the Jeep sees to be working as expected.
Any help of suggestions would be appreciated.

It may be a bad connection in the cable plug behind the cluster. My '00 WJ is just now starting to burn out separate blubs at 158K. One near the temp guage and one in the heater control.

I know backlighting can go bad... at night, in my '02 WJ, the right side of the gauges are dimmer than the left side, the overhead console C/T and Reset buttons don't light up while the Menu and Step buttons do, some of the HVAC control buttons and ***** don't light up, even though the ashtray (or coin holder, as I use it for) light lights up when the ashtray/coin holder is opened. My dad has an '05 WK and has had a similar problem with his center stack (HVAC controls, trip computer buttons, etc) not lighting up at all, and our mechanic told us it was a "module" of some sort instead of individual lights, so that module may need replaced. Hope this helps! (:
