HElp please!
so i just got home from being out of town and the jeep has been sitting for 3 days. I looked under it and there was a puddle of trans fluid. i put in a new transfercase 2 weeks ago and its been bone dry until today. The leaks coming from the bottom of where the case and the trans meets. why would this do this? it seems to have a tinnnnyyy little notch in the case could this be the problem? but why would this happen after its been sitting?

ok so its coming from the weep hole. so this either means its leaking from the trans seal or the tcase seal. how do i know which one it is? i just swapped in a 242 from another zj 2 weeks ago could this be a problem

Did you lube the input/output shafts with trans fluid before you put the t case in? If the seals run on the shaft without being lubed with clean oil first they get hot and cause the seals to leak, looks like it is your trans output seal. Quick test would be to check the transfer case oil level. if over full both your seals bad, if fluid level is good then check trans fluid level because your trans output seal is leaking.

mistake number one was starting the swap outside at 830 at night and by the time we were done it was 330am no we didnt lube the shafts or anything we just biolted her up and filled her up. nothing was leaking at all for the last two weeks and as soon as i let it sit for 3 days it leaked like crazy. i checked the trans fluid and it was right at the max line or full line. havnt checked the tcase yet because i dont have the right sized socket. now how exactly do iknow which one is bad? you said if the case is over filled then both are bad? and if the trans one is bad then my trans fluid will just be dripping out and ill be able to monitor that with the dipstick correct?

i checked the tcase fluid on a level surface and it started to pour out as soon as i took the top off. maybe because i drove it? or because both my seals are messed up
