Can someone help me with the this. Sorry if this is in the wrong area to post. Trying to find this part or the name of it. It's the abs counter and it connects to the joint. I need to buy the whole part
Old fart with a wrench
A good wire brushing should make it work again. It's called the "tone ring" and is part of the axle stub.

so what is that thing for? I saw a sensor pointing at it on my jeep and assumed it was for the anti lock brakes but not sure.

That's precisely what it's for. The ABS sensors read wheel speed from that and compare it with vehicle speed. There's one on every wheel. The rears are inside the e-brake drums.
As far as I'm concerned, the whole ABS system is a POS and I'd rather not have it, but it's way too hard to eliminate. NY doesn't require it to function anyway. It allows you to maintain control, BUT it increases stopping distances. What good is that? My foot works better!

I ended up removing the fuse that powers the ABS because on the street or off road it kept going off. it brakes much better now.
