Headlight/Taillight Issue Please help

Grand Cherokee Headlight tail light problem

Hello and thank you for allowing me to join the forum. I have a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee V6 4 wheel drive. Just recently over the past 2 weeks I have noticed I have brake lights but when I turn on my headlights I lose my tell lights and my brake lights at the same time. I have checked all fuses under the dashboard as well as under the hood and they are all good. I have also replaced the headlights stick/turn signal stick on the steering column and that did not solve the problem. It's very strange. If I step on the brake lights without the headlights on they work properly. As soon as I turn my headlights on I lose my brake lights and my tail lights. Can someone please help me. Is there a relay or something I am missing because I have checked all fuses under the hood and under the dashboard and everything seems appropriate. I even thought by replacing the turn signal/headlights stick it would solve the problem but it did not. Thx u so much. First time poster.

There is an electrical issue. It sounds like it may be down to your Jeep having an earthing problem.
Have you looked at the bulb holders? They may be tarnished with a sort of rusting.. You may or may not see it if it is present. I would inspect and clean all of them. Make sure of having good solid connections, bending the contacts to make things fit tightly if able, after you clean them.
Another thing you could do.. It could also be just one bad bulb. Invest in a few new bulbs. Change them one at a time, until maybe hopefully fix your problem... Front and rear.

I will do that as well. One question. The battery itself still has life but looks terrible with corrosion. I did clean it up. Could it be that this may also be causing the issue with any corrosion i did not get off? I will check and change as suggested. Many thanks. Can you point me on the right direction on reading his #1 on his sig. I did not see it on his profile

I've never checked someones sig.. I don't know?
Yes on the battery.. for sure it needs to be absolutely proper, but I do not think this would cause your problem with the lights.

Any brand electrical parts spray contact cleaner will work. You can also use a baking soda paste and scrub with a bristle. When finished, use a lights lube dielectric grease to prevent future corrosion. If there is a lot of rust type stuff going on, or pitting, the contacts may be toast?
