Default Grand Cherokee Headlight tail light problem

Hello and thank you for allowing me to join the forum. I have a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee V6 4 wheel drive. Just recently over the past 2 weeks I have noticed I have brake lights but when I turn on my headlights I lose my tell lights and my brake lights at the same time. I have checked all fuses under the dashboard as well as under the hood and they are all good. I have also replaced the headlights stick/turn signal stick on the steering column and that did not solve the problem. It's very strange. If I step on the brake lights without the headlights on they work properly. As soon as I turn my headlights on I lose my brake lights and my tail lights. Can someone please help me. Is there a relay or something I am missing because I have checked all fuses under the hood and under the dashboard and everything seems appropriate. I even thought by replacing the turn signal/headlights stick it would solve the problem but it did not. Thx u so much. First time poster.

Welcome to the forum, Reno, but this is the Cherokee section. You need to head over to the Grand Cherokee section. They are different vehicles, with different sections.

It could be where the light system grounds to the body. I don't know where that is on the Grands. I haven't had to run it down yet. On the Cherokee the rear lights ground behind the panel behind the spare tire.

And yes, it could be the ground wires to the sockets, or it could be the sockets themselves. They are replaceable. Most auto parts stores can get the sockets for you.

I think you have a grounding issue too. My FSM only goes to 2004 so I can't say specifically where the grounds are
