Default Tail Light Issue

Just wondering if anyone else has encountered this problem. I turn my headlights on and only the headlights come on. No tail lights or parking lights. On the first click on the switch, nothing happens, on the second click, only the headlights come on. On a side note, none of my guages work, and my guage lights do not work. Any help would be appreciated.

Have you checked fuses?

I checked all the fuses and all of them checked out fine. The only one that was blown was the one for the cigar lighter. I didn't figure that would have anything to do with the lights so I didn't put a new one in.

I also replaced the headlight switch and that did not work either.

Yes this has happened to me but all of my gages work i just dont have any Dash Lights, or Tail lights, but I do have Stop Lights. I wish I could find out the problem. YOu could also check the back hatch has a ground and if its connect with short your connect out and pop fuses. If you find anything please let me know. Thanks and Good luck

still trying to figure this thing out. This morning I pulled the headlight switch out just half of the first click and the driving lights in the front and the tail lights came on. When I pulled it to the full 1st click, they went off. When I pulled it all the way through the second click, they stayed off and the headlights came on???

what your discribing sounds like the switch, i know you said its new but i suppose there is a chance its bad or the wrong one if the running/tail lights came on half way through the first click.

When I replaced it and it didn't work, I put the old one back on. maybe its the connector that plugs into the switch?

thats entirely possible. there is alot of current going through that switch to run all the lights. it could be as simple as a bad end on a wire in the connecter. you could try wiggling each wire individually while its plugged in to maybe narrow down the bad one. if you wanted to get all tech about it. break out the meter and test light and find out if the switch is accually "switching" power to each function.

I just had this same problem. I changed the bulbs and switch. Here i was screwing around a couple of weeks ago in the hatch and connected 2 wires that i thought had pulled apart from driving. After all the replacing of crap and head scratching, I disconnected the 2 wires (no flippin clue what they are for at this point) and BAM tail lights are back...... WTH............
