Default grand Cherokee Laredo 2wd wont stay in park

So the jeep shifts fine in all the other gear but when you go to park the , slide the shifter forward and the jeep will roll if not on level ground, so its not engageing it. I don't know if its it the transmission. or just the linkage out side of it

I'm a mechanic , I just never worked on one of these before

I would start with pulling the shifter handle and inspecting the jeep **** bead. (When you see it you'll know why I call it that.)

So I was getting the console out and noticed that the shifter top won't come off . What's the trick to that , I'm assuming the "****" beads are going to be in side the handle?
