getting a Grand Cherokee finally
I am getting a Grand Cherokee finally and it was 2 monthes finding the right one.I work for an used car dealer and a friend of his has it whom is an used car dealer too.I trust the guy,he does not sell junk and tells the truth. It is a 2003 with 120,000 miles on and has what I want, the 4.0 inline six with part time 4wd.It is a maroonish color.Called my boss to have me come over to look it over and liked it on the spot.Clean rig taken care of very well and I don't have to do much to it before mods to be done.I test drove it and has a frozen up front brake caliper, pulls to the left when I hit the brakes.Drives nice and it is a bank repo.Came back and negotiated on price, wanted $5,000.00 for it and accepted my offer of $4,000.00.He paid $2,500.00 for it at the auction.Pay for it tommorrow transfering plates off a truck I am sending to the junkyard.Plans are a 4 to 6 inch lift kit,do the slip yoke eliminator conversion first.I have a set of 33s that fit it already on rims.
Bought it today and it was the front right caliper froze up.Bought a reman caliper for the right side, set of front brake pads and rotors.I did not like the looks of the rotors, were getting on the thin side.Plus the front brake pads were getting due for replacement..Replaced the right front brake hose also. The left side brake caliper and and hose were replaced at one time.Drives good now and going to order a lift kit, slip yoke eliminator kit in a couple weeks.

So you work for a dealer and they picked this up at an Auction and charged you $1500 for it above and beyond what they paid for it? What is wrong with dealers these days. Can't they help an employee out? I have a friend who is a dealer and goes to the dealer auction every Monday and has done for 30 years as a hobby. You call him up tell him what your looking for and he goes down and sees what's available. If there is something he thinks you may be interested in he calls you and asks what your willing to pay. If you say you will pay $4k and he buys it for $2500 he charges you $200 and it's yours. That's the way to do business..

Two things; I'm assuming the 33s are 15s? Make sure the rims will fit, both bolt pattern and brake clearance.
Second, treat that D35 rear end gently if you're going to 33s. It's not the strongest axle out there, especially in 2WD.
