Default Fuel Pump wont work, replaced it.

So here goes a long one.

I replaced the diff fluid in my 1997 ZJ and did the regular maintenance. I waited a day for the RTV to set properly. Next day I went to start it and it would not start.
Checked the fuel rail for fuel and got nothing.
Used starting fluid and it started but again no fuel.
I didnt hear the fuel pump so I replaced the fuel pump.
Still nothing from the fuel pump
Checked the relays for "ASD" and "Fuel Pump" replaced them.
Had no way of checking PCM so I got a used one that came out of a running Jeep ZJ same year, cleaned the connections, applied dielectric grease to the connections.
Still no start or fuel.

What should I do.

Is the fuel pump priming when you turn the key? Basically are you sure it's getting power?

Change the muffler bearings out but be sure to let the rtv set for 5 full days first, then try it.

The fuel pump is not priming. That was why I checked relays and change PCM.

Ok my friend Ill take a shot. The first thing I would have done before changing a fuel pump, is get a volt meter and unplug the fuel pump and check to see if you're getting any sort of voltage on those 4 wires. Ground one side of your meter to the black wire. Also check that the ground is good by also checking for +v with the meter grounded to a known good ground. You also might back probe the wires if you can't get in the plug under the rear end by the pump. Others may know the colors of the wires, but I think..there is only 1 +12vdc wire there.
You are looking for the one that should go hot for 2 seconds when the key is turned on.
Might need a helper.
Even easier than that I suppose would be to get a schematic from the service manual and pull the fuel pump relay see if that gets power, if not I think the next in line is the ASD relay. However you do say it starts with spray fluid so I tend to think there is not a problem with the asd part of it.
If those two check out then move under the car and check connector there. That connector is pretty sturdy on mine and well constructed, but, you sure could have a problem there.

Now there may be a more accurate way to find why the power is not there, or if it is there and you have 2 bad pumps. This is the quickie way and should be further verified before you throw any more parts at it. Thank you and hope you do ok

I will check voltage when I arrive home. Thank you.

Can you tell me a way to access the service manual (unless its the the haynes) or tell me color of wires for the fuel pump and what they should be doing.

No I cannot but if you use the search function above you will find multiple sources. Also the FAQ , community sections etc.

As I said I think maybe the best place to start is the fuel pump relay, much easier to access.

The FSM is a required tool for owning the vehicle. Purchasing on eBay is a good option.

The 1997 ZJ FSM shows the four pin fuel pump has these connections:
  • A64 16 DG/WT - Fuel Pump Power Feed - Fuel Pump Relay (In PDC) - Fuse 16 20A Feed - Activated by Fuel Pump Relay (Fuse 18 15A) - Controlled by PCM Fuel Pump Relay Control C3-C19
  • Z1 16 BK - Fuel Pump Motor Ground
  • K4 20 BK/LB - Fuel Level Sensor - PCM Sensor Ground
  • G40 20 LB/BK - Fuel Level Sensor - PCM Fuel Level Sensor

Skin a little insulation off the ground wire and jump it straight to a good ground. Sounds like you may have accidentally pulled or moved the ground wire while working on the diff. Let me see if I can find you the wire color for sure but it should be black.
