Can someone tell me if it is worth paying all the extra money they want at the parts stores. I need a new fuel pump and the parts store wants $309-325 for a pump. Cart Parts Wholesale on Ebay are selling new ones for around $63.00. The store brand ones are Spectra and CARQUEST, while the ebay listing shows no brand. Is there a reason I should pay the big difference in price? It is for a new to me 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 5.2 liter.

Ok thank you. I tried to order a Bosch but they sold out on Rock Auto.com so I ordered a Carter one from them. Supposedly Carter is the same as Mopar stuff? Hopefully it will work out since I didn't go with the cheapest. It was actually more than the Bosch would have been.

Actually, I think Carter is made by the old Carter Carburetor company that has made fuel system parts for Mopar since the 40's. IDK if they still make their parts in the US though.

Thanks makes me feel good about getting the Carter pump. I just got the ZJ so I plan to hang on to it for a while if all goes well. I'm trying to get it fixed up for my Dad. I have to get this tank cleaned out now so I can get the pump in. Thanks for the advice.

A heads up on the install sequence, first, carefully place the new gasket ring in the tank opening, then orient the pump assembly and gently slip it through the gasket, then install lock ring. Some tutorials show placing the gasket on the pump first, which puts you at risk of stripping the fine flange off the outside of the gasket ring when you place the pump in the tank opening, resulting in fuel leaks.

Also, make sure the lock ring is not cross-threaded. A VERY thin coat of petroleum jelly does wonders to lube the threads so it spins on correctly.
