Hello! I have front end noise (whining) at +40 km/h. When I floor accelerator noise is off but it turns on when I take foot off the pedal. I bought new set of Ring and Pinion from Mopar and local dealer installed it, but nothing changed... I have +1.400 km since new set was installed. Little bit less noise now, but still whining. Can anyone tell me how to stop this whining noise, please?
Also changed transfer case chain (didnt helped).


I have Grand Cherokee 1996 with dana 30 (3.73 ratio)

You have a all wheel drive T-case right? It's bad.. I know same noice when mine went out in my ZJ. Your most likely loosing the front out put bearing. It sounds like the front end cause the vib is resinating through the front drive shaft..

 

yeah, i have 4x4 all time. forgot to add most interesting - when i disconnect front driveshaft, whine stops! also it feels like noise is more in the center of the car, far away from differential and yeah, i have some vibrations when taking off foot from pedal rapidly.
so its transfer case causing this whine?

 

Yep it's your T-case. Because of how the All Wheel drive case works you should not be able to remove the front drive shaft and drive. If you do (and that you said you did) your T-case is Junk you'll need to replace it. Sorry for the not so go news but ya your problem is in the T-case..

 

well, i disconnected driveshaft only to drive around the street, so i hope i didnt broke it
dealers(who installed) now are asking to buy a new set of ring and pinions(guess they don't know a thing and just want more money)
little bearing and making so much noise, wow

Ok... Front out put and input bearings change didn't helped me. Dealer got car lifted on elevator and whine is from Diff, not t-case...

Here is the list of changed parts so far:
*GEAR KIT (R&P 3.73, with all bearings)
*Front out put and input bearings in t-case
*Front driveshaft u-joints
*T-case chain
*All fluids (t-case, diff, trans)

Chrysler dealers assure me that they did all correctly. They suggesting me to use special additives (metal conditioners or something?) Any ideas?

 

96 249 can be driven without the front DS.

The fact that it's only on acceleration and you have slight vibes when letting off really leans towards it being a drive shaft/pinion issue. My suggestion is make the dealer fix it right,seems like you've given them enough money and they either are not diagnosing or fixing it properly.

Yeah, dealers doesn't look like they are interested to fix it. Guess i need to order parts and go to other shop, but what part do i need to change? I changed all bearings already
