Default Tire pressure sensors

What's up from Beantown! Been lurking for a while and I'm diggin' the site...

I run the 06' Hemi Limited with all factory options they could squeeze on board.

Anyhow, Anybody have any idea what the deal is on these tire air pressure sensor nipples? I recently had one replaced and had to pay out of pocket.

I've got another one failing as indicated by falling tire psi levels on my console and no visible damage to my tires.

Is there a permanent fix or type of nipple/sensor I should switch to? Or am I condemned to replace this bad boy at 100 bucks a pop (x4) every couple of years?

Thanks in advance!

Bump for the late night crowd....

Is it possible you're experiencing a rim leak at the bead?
The only thing I can find on the system is this.>->http://www.wkjeeps.com/wk_tpms.htm
And Welcome to CF.

Confirm tire pressure by checking via conventional tire pressure gauge...
I think when the batterys go, the sensors just stop working (not giving erroneous readings)

Did you check the pressure at your tires when the indicator comes on? On my wifes expedition the warning lamp for the tire pressure comes on every now and then which means it senses a tire a little low on psi,so i just check and add.

Thanks for all of the responses... And the Warm Welcome!
According to the dealership, they see this pretty regularly, and the pressure indicator has correct readings.

Apparently, the cap has "Special Attributes" that allow it to resist rust, corrosion of the valve stem... yatta... yatta...

I'm not buying into it, just relaying the marketing spiel.

Anyhow, I was just wondering if other people had the same problem with this new toy (TPMS) that ol' Blue linked to (Thanks Bro) Stinks to have to pay for something that get's damaged due to design instead of usage... I don't want to pay 100+ bucks per rim every time I get new tires.

Rant aside... Anyone else have this problem?

Its (around) $10 extra per tire to have the sensors rebuilt, and there are special ways to remove the tire to avoid damaging the sensor... If a tire shop damages the sensor, they need to buy a new one.

Try to visit auto shops nearby and get your tire sensor rebuilt... You don't have to spend 100+ bucks... Around $50 for all your tires will do...

Good stuff!
Thing is... I'd prefer to keep my 10 bucks per tire and buy Kanye's new album with Big & Rich

Newest Rant over and Back on Topic... (You seeing a trend here? lol)

Can anyone tell me how to remove the tire in a "special way"??? or rebuild the sensor myself?

I believe there's a 'Sync' with a magnet that needs to happen to program wheels location in. Do I need to do this if I'm putting the wheel back in the same location?
