Call your local repair shop they'll tell you the same thing, it splits power like a diff does, so it sends power to the direction of least resistances. Wearing itself out by doing so.

Thanks for all the help guys. Also is there a way to check if the T-case is already messed up when I test drive it?

The easiest way is to try and drive in a few circles in a parking lot, it it's messed up it will squeal very bad, or it will be near impossible to do the circles.. That's the easiest check, the other is basic look at the front tires, are they worn on the outer edges real bad? If so that's also a key sign...

quadratec is the all wheel drive right? If that's the case NO you can't just take it out, you hurt the T-case. Also remember there are 3 different length front drive shafts for the ZJ. The All Wheel Drive one is the longest. You can use the front drive shafts from a XJ with no problem. And there a cake walk to remove, 4 bolts axle side(2 u-straps) and 4 bolts T-case side...
! What year driveshaft from a xj should I get? There fairly cheaper than the zj ones. Would a 98 or 99 work?
