Front dissengages in mud hole

Default Front dissengages in mud hole
so wheeling my zj there's is always this mud hole that for some reason stops my front axle from spinning but it will work driving through trails and small holes so I know it works why does it stop spinning my front

What transfer case do you have? NP249?
