Default Looking for a muffler.........

I'd like to replace the stock muffler in my 2001 Grand Cherokee with something a bit more aggressive sounding......... It has the I6 engine so I know it won't sound like a V8 but I do want it to sound more throaty....... any ideas? My stock muffler has a small leak in it so now is the time to make the swap.

Thanks in advance,

RIZ

Thrush welded sounds amazing on the 4.0. Cheap, too.

Any exhaust sound from a 6 cylinder engine doesn't and never will sound pleasing to the ear. We've experimented with split headers into two pipes and it sounded worse. The best you can get is a deep tone smoothed out into a constant sound without individual cylinder pulses. Ever hear a V10 or V12?

IMHO, a Flowmaster is about the best you can go for sound and performance. They will give you that deep tone at anything but WOT, but sound not so nice when you stick your foot into it. Ever hear a rice rocket with a straight through muffler? It grates on the nerves, to say the least.

You can also change the sound of your I6 with a header that the tubes are all the same length.

My friends and I love them on classic V8s and would never run anything else. They sound great and are a reverse flow muffler without packing and flow freely. They are a bit expensive but last a long time, usually longer than the pipes!

My son put a stainless Magnaflow on his XJ & I think it sounds pretty good. He wants something louder now, so I'll probably inherit it soon

As everyone else said the Flowmaster super 40 and super 44 are the most popular around here just be careful with the Super 10 some states there illegal. Otherwise the two other brands that are well known are Borla, which is one of the quietest mufflers you can get that's free flowing, then there is also Magnaflow. I suggest you watch videos on youtube with that mufflers brand. Otherwise I got a Magnaflow but what your saying it might be to quite for you, the Flowmasters 50s Delta Flow is also a nice muffler one of my first choice muffler. In the end you looking for deep sound, I would stick with a Flowmaster.

Here is the 50s

Here is the Magnaflow I got on my vehicle.

cheap muffler that sounds good to me.

I have been ask if it was a flowmaster but I don't really hear the similarity that much. I have a super 40 flowmaster on my Inline 5 cyl GMC canyon and my jeep is louder.
