got the head, block and pistons back from the machine shop. when they mag'd the head they found a crack, luckily there was a junk 4.0 out back at work so i took the head off of that and dropped it off at the machine shop to get tanked and mag'd, hopefully the second one is okay. first head was out of an 01, 2nd one is out of an 02 wrangler. fingers crossed.

second head was cracked worse than the first :/ so i ordered a rebuilt "TUPY" forged head with new seals/seats/guides/3 angle valve job, shipping monday so hopefully itll be here in a week or so

I hate to be picky, but being a metal-man it's important to me. Forging is a process of hammering or compressing hot metal to form a part. There's no way you can "forge" a head unless it's solid metal.
I bought an "Odessa" Clearwater heavy casting complete with valves and springs, ready to mount, for $455 with free shipping BOTH ways and got it in 3 days!
