Engine swap? Oil in air filter :(

That does sound bad. Your best bet might be to post in your local thread, you might be able to find someone willing to give you a hand with it.
To answer your original question, if you do replace the engine your best bet would be a 91 - 95 engine. I did an engine swap in a weekend, 1 day to pull the old engine and another to drop the new one in. With a lot of beer breaks between working.

I guess I'll have to revise my last post. If the oil was that overfull, the crank and rods were throwing a lot of oil around like a blender. Obviously, that's how your air filter got wet. Also, it probably whipped the oil into a froth with air and caused your lifters to clatter. Check the MAP sensor for oil in it.
