i have a 94 grand cherokee 2 wheel drive an i have a 2000 grand cherokee all wheel drive both have str6 4.0 in them will the 94 bolt up to the 00 i know ill have to swamp out the coil pack an distrbor but will the engine monts line up or will i have to do something with them too thank you

People ask this question all the time and the answer is no, unless you can build some sort of custom mounts. On the new "clean side" block made after 98, the mounts were moved rearward to fit the locations built into the WJ body to balance the 4.7 V8. This interferes with the oil filter adapter, so that was moved up to the side of the block. The filter now screws directly into the block behind the distributor location. Also, the valve ports on the new 0331 head are different shape, so the cast iron manifolds won't fit the old heads without an adapter.

The 0331 head, new in 99, is a time bomb waiting to happen. They have a tendency to crack between the #3 and #4 exhaust valves. This was cured, supposedly, in 02 with the "TUPY" head. I put an aftermarket "Clearwater" head on mine.

I've heard rumors of people that have made custom mounts or cobbled up plates to adapt the mounts, but don't know the specifics on how that was done. You'll also need all the accessories, water pump, and serp belt from the 2000, as well as the intake manifold because some of the brackets are molded into the manifold and pump now. The pump spins in the opposite direction on the 2000.
