Default transfer case swamp...they are different!

ok so my 99 had a bad 242 tcase so im swaping in a 242 from a 91 that i got from nick.

got my old one out today and noticed a few differences, one is the tailshaft isnt the same but i think i can swap that on to the new one...i hope
second is the electrical plug is in a different spot and the connector is different but i think i can swap that out too.. i hope

what u guys think? heres some pics

nope cuz my ds IS a slipyoke, its stock, just a wierd change they made in 98 that i forgot about so i hope it interchanges

IN '97 Jeep changed the T-case to not be in closed anymore for the out put. They should be interchangeable. The older one is also less likely to have drive line vides when lifted.

ok i was just looking them over, they will interchange BUT...i wont have that connector when i switch them.....what does it do exactly? is it just to light up 4x4 on the dash? does it do other things?

it should be the light the spedo is near the tail so the only thing left is the light i think

not sure how mine went bad, wont stay into gear


the book shows that connector as a "vaccum switch" sounds important, anyone know what it does>?

i kno the front axle is run by a vacuum disco so that may have went bad but thats totally diff issue than the transfer case

wow, that really sucks it wont work, i thought it would, maybe if u would use the 91 if u got a 91 rear drive shaft??? just an idea, or im sure u can recoup ur costs lol and sell it lol

ya i was thinking bout a 91 DS but theres still teh prob with the sensors r differ.

oh well i think its time to drop some money into it and get it rebuilt, i was gonna do an SYE anyways and nows a better time then ever to do it.

so the T-case wouldnt stay in?? maybe your linkage just needed adjustment?
