E-Z locker
So, I got a Detroit E-Z locker and installed it. Is it supposed to make the reared sound like crap or should I be worried?

Clicking or a ratcheting type noise is all you should hear going arounds corners. An occasional pop/snap might be heard too under accel, offroad or cornering.

Those type of lockers are known for noise, there is actually another design thats more quiet (Powertrax No-Slip ). They work the same way but with almost no noise, if anything they may make a pop noise but very rarely.
I just cant see how you went from spinning one tire (open diff) to spinning both and then say your tires spin easy now?

Ok, so this morning on my way to work the rear end grabbed and then let go and wouldn't drive in rear wheel drive. I put it in 4wd and was able to drive the extra block to work. Then I put it back into 2wd and it would drive again. This thing is a pos.

My rear wheels locked up and I smelt rubber. Then when I put it in 4wd the wheels rotated like normal but I could tell that I was only being pulled by the front wheels and the rear was only rotating and not helping move the vehicle (I was in FWD basically).

I dont really know what to say about all that, did you notice any loud banging noises or a loud snap? For the rear wheels to lock up it would almost need something like the center pin, carrier or ring & pinion/bearings to fail, but I wouldn't expect it to continue to drive down the road in any gear/range.

Yeah, it skid the tires. I tried it in 2wd again later and it wouldn't move. I was able to dive it home in 4wd with the rear driveshaft removed and now it's at the shop.

I got the axle to the shop and they found the pinion shaft that holds the spider gears is broke in half. The carrier is toast. The Pinion gear is chipped. Total repair cost $600 including new ring and pinion, new carrier and new locker.
