Default dif. gear, how loos/hard should they be?

I read that when taking out the differential shaft that i must be careful when turning the wheel so the gears dont fell out. But i was not able to turn the wheel/axle opposite way by hand before i took them out, and when i took the axles out i cant turn the gears inside the differential. I have the LSD, should it be like this or is the LSD damaged? I see that many say that when turning one wheel it should take 1/2 turn before the LSD starts to work, but on mine its seems like the LSD is on all the time. Since there isnt any mecanical "thing" inside there that turn the LSD on, it must be like this, that it must be some force to "brake them free"?

Clutch pack is preloaded and requires a certain amount of force to brake free. This is why both wheels turn the same direction with the wheels in the air, with an open differential they turn opposite directions. So yes, with an LSD, normal.

If these LSDs are, and I'm not saying they are, like the GM Positraction unit, which I believe is made by Dana, there is a system of springs that preload clutch packs behind the axle gears where the c-clips are. If this is the case, nothing should spin freely by hand. The axles only move differently by overcoming the spring pressure. Under power, the clutch packs are locked by the force of the planetary gears trying to force the side gears apart. If you remove the spring pack, everything will move freely and that's when the planetary gears and shims will fall out.
