Dies 2 seconds after starting
1995 GC I6. I start it up and it runs perfect for exactly two seconds then cuts out. Theres no sputtering or anything...it just completely dies like I'm turning it off. Whether I'm revving it or let it idle...2 seconds. ANY IDEAS GUYS??? I'm stumped. Feels electrical maybe?? It is obviously getting fuel and spark...so I can eliminate a lot of things (I think).

I should also mention that I had to replace the battery after killing my old one trying to figure out the problem.

That's a security issue. Take your key, go to the rear hatch and lock and unlock your rear hatch a couple of times. The security system is triggered anytime you do not use the key fob for entry, unlock the back hatch manually first, or disconnect the battery.

yep, definily security, also can try locking and unlocking pass door with key. went through the same thing with mine. Any time the batt is disconnected or goes dead it will do this.

I know, I know bringing a dead thread back to life. I had the common symptoms.....Try to start, it would run but die 2seaconds later, punch the gas ans try to start.....die two seconds later. I read this tread, went out and unlocked the passenger door with the key and the rig started right up.
Moral of the story.....Search does work. I type in "security" in to the search box, found this thread and now my GC is running again. I love this forum!
