Default CV Axle shaft

I need a CV half shaft for my WJ. Morris 4X4 wants $300 for a new shaft. Rockauto has a new, not reman, Cardone shaft for $50. What's the scoop? Is Cardone any good? This is a DD it's going into, not a wheeler. I can replace both, with shipping, for $115.

If the Cardone is at least decent, I'll go that way. Opinions, please.

Cardone is a good brand, I've never had a problem with that brand.

Thanks Busted! Coming from you, I can trust it. I'll probably replace both, seems like the logical thing to do.

Update on my CV axle. I finally got it up on a lift today. It wasn't a CV joint after all. The steering damper on this WJ is attached by a clamp sleeve to the tierod. It had slid off the coupling and was hitting the tire on left turns and limiting the travel of the tierod on right turns. Backing up turning left, it was catching the wheel balance weight and making a clicking sound. About 15 minutes with a wrench and a pry bar fixed it.

Kind of a stupid arrangement if you ask me. I think we got it tight enough to stay, but I'm not confident it will. It cost me $5 for lift time and $15 for a case of beer. My kind of guys!

Just thought you'd like to know.

Do you still have the original half shaft? You can buy the rebuild kit online for 40-120$ depending where you look.

It wasn't the shaft. It was the stupid steering damper!
