Default Crankshaft position sensor

I have an 04 wj, I need to change my cps. I found a small hole under my radio to access it or i found it from laying underneath. I'm trying to figure out what is the best way to remove it, and re install it. Any help is appreciated

If it's the same as my 03 which it should be, there's an access panel underneath the carpet I guess you could say under the radio. Two nuts and it pulls up and the thing is staring you in the face. Two 10mm nuts. Picture was found using the Google machine. I used that panel to change mine

Yeah I've found that panel but I can't seem to get a socket on the bolt. My 04 I think only has one bolt and it's a 7/16. How did you angle the socket on it and get it back then?

I removed to floor vent. theres a bracket that has one bolt. remove the bolt and that will just slide of of the duct. this give you a lot more room. I want to say those bolts might be a 3/8.

Probably 10mm.

Thanks for sharing this. When I need to replace MY CPS, I'll look for it.

You would think it's a 10mm, but Chrysler likes to keep American things American (standard sizes). I pulled the cover and the sensor bolt is staring at you with an evil grin. I tried a swivel 10mm but it would sit flush on the bolt. Dug out the swivel 3/8 socket and it fit like a glove. To be fair rust buildup and the oil leaking out of my valve cover coated the bolt enough probably making it bigger than a 10mm. Dave I know you've seen these pictures before but they're worth the repost now that we're on the topic.

What is the cable going thru that hole, the t/case shift cable or the trans cable? I only thought they were 10mm because I just changed my cooling fan relay and the mounting bolts were 8mm. Oh, wait! 8mm is 5/16" isn't it? Duh!

Nice pics though. Mind if I save them in my library?

Boston, huh? I spent 2 years in Boston in the Navy. Got in a bar fight in Southie. Got my butt kicked.

One of them is the t/case shifter cable and the other is the transmission shift cable. Haha yeah they were able to get by because new metric sizes will fill but once they get some dirt on them the bigger standard sizes are what you have to use. Use them all you like, they aren't mine, I found them on the Google machine. Yes sir, Boston is my hometown. Whereabouts were you stationed?

USS Wasp, Boston South Annex. 1963 to 1965. I grew up in RI and spent some time in Boston with my wife in 1975. Years before (1956), my dad was stationed at NAS Sguantum in Quincy. My wife grew up in Brooklyn so I had to take her on the "yellow brick road".
