You would need a front axle, drivehsaft, transfercase, linkage, and transmission.

Probably would be cheaper in the long run to sell your 2wd and buy a good 4 wd. With gas prices the way they are you can buy just about any 4wd fairly cheap.

I think the transmission would be the sme, just have to swap out the tail shaft piece for a TC tailpiece. Not sure why you would need a different ECU and TCM? I did not think the TC communicated with either of those?

X2 it would save a large amount of hassle if you sold it and just bought a 4wd one.

Is it a ZJ or a WJ? On the ZJ it is rather cheap to do the swap to 4wd norm is under $1000 and that's on the high end of the cost. As for the trany I do be leave it will have to be changed BUT the wiring is all the same. So you'd need a trany, T-case, front axle, front and rear driveshfts, and shift leaver(best bet on this is get a aftermarket shifter from Tera-Flex{I think that's who make them}). the coils and the CA are all the same.. Hope this helps..

After looking in my Haynes it looks like you might be right the tail part of the tranny just has to be removed..

I've also seen same problem as this from other forums...
This is possible if you can find busted 4wd cherokees and pick up some parts which you'll be needed for the conversion process...
