Hey guys, got a ? for a friend. She says this problem recently started occurring when she turns a corner, the front end "shakes". I have yet to test drive it to get an accurate description but what I get from "shake" is maybe a shutter or binding. Now if she had the 249, I could diagnose as a binding but, with the 242 do you think it may be in the diff? She says it has now started squeaking at the same time as turning and "shaking". I think that may be a separate issue (i.e. power steering) but maybe related. Diagnose away...

 

I'm like you if it was a 249 then t-case problems. Possibly there is a diff problem maybe a bearing since there is a squeak or a CV joint gone bad.

 

I think it has something to do with the front axle shaft u-joints. Try to spray the u-joints with some lubricant and see if it still shutters...

 

If she has the 242 T-case it could be the same prob as the 249 has if she is in(or stuck in) Full Time 4wheel drive..
