Just bought this '98 GC which has issues. One of them is it continually draws current when battery terminals are connected, even when no key in ignition (and no dome/interior lighting on that I could find), but there seems to be a whirring soft noise near the glovebox, on near that corner of the firewall, is there some motor in there I should know about...where should I start looking?

 

Might be the blower? Not familiar with GC's at all. Try pulling the fuse for it and see if the noise stops.
