I know some jeeps have problems with PCM and computer going bad . Is there any place to buy a new one besides dealer?

 

I got mines from a dealer.. unless you try finding one on Craigslist or getting one out of another jeep i suggest you buy it from dealer.

 

How much does one run at dealer

 

Im looking for one for my 2000 XJ and found ones at local junk yards for $75, ebay for $80 to $150 and companies online selling rebuilt ones for $199.

 

I may try a rebuilt one

 

Mine went out on my '03 WJ a couple months ago. Got a new one installed at the dealership for $900. Wasn't something I felt like doing myself.

 

What was it doin when it started going out

 

The jeep will start to stall out while you're driving. Mine started to stall two or three times every time I drove it. I could drop it down into N and it would start right back up. The day it went out though it just wouldn't stay on. Every time I tried to start it it died. What happens is the computer gets hot and then just shuts off. Mine got fried and eventually just quit.
