Default Complete Idiot needs help on how to use EVIC

Have had my new 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland for a few months and am still on a huge learning curve. Am trying to read the manual like a book, but at almost 700 pages, it's slow going (not to mention the Media manual). I had no idea cars could even do what this one can do. My last car was a 1996 Geo Prizm.

EVIC: how in the world do you use it? None of the directions, videos, CDs, etc. show how to start the thing. I'm pressing the left arrows, holding down the arrows, lightly touching the arrows, etc. and I get nothing. Worked fine at the dealership.

It's got to be something simple I'm missing, hence the self-imposed "idiot".

Help. Please.

Thanks, but this video does not show to START the EVIC. How do I get it to display information? I know how to operate it once it starts showing info.

I'm pressing the left hand arrows and nothing displays on the screen. Need this info for a road trip.

Manual doesn't explain it, just all the functions. I just want to find out from another GC owner how they work the EVIC.

Need a step by step of how to turn on the EVIC.

Sorry, it's the same as the youtube page, previously submitted. Am now thinking the EVIC is somehow disabled. I tried it again this AM and working the up/down arrows produces nothing on the screen.

Don't know if I'm reading it correctly, but manual says to press and hold the select
button (right pointing arrow) for 2 seconds to reset features. Up button turns it off.

Maybe

Dude, EVIC looks awesome... At least I have something to look forward to when I save up enough money for a newer Jeep!

Well, it turns out this brand new GC has a little issue with electronics. Took it into dealership and it's official - it's busted. Will have to bring in next week for them to fix. When I think this is the 2nd time in a matter of weeks I've brought this car in for service - last time it was wonky headlights which they couldn't replicate so it didn't get fixed.

This is our first Jeep - just hope we made the right decision.

Default UPDATE on EVIC

Just heard from the dealership. Took them all day, but EVIC wasn't working due to fuses not connected after shipping. I think he referred to it as Transport mode. Some fuses are disconnected when the car is shipped and should be reconnected once it's available for transport.

Am glad this is resolved. Hopefully my experience will help others if they have a problem.

ya I use mine all the time, you will get use to it now that it works. I live in Canada on the USA border and go over at least once a week, I just hit my right arrow and it turns from kilometers to miles. You can totally set your vehicle to the way you want it. For example when I turn off my vehicle I didn't like the music staying on so I set it to turn off. Have fun with it.
