So I have what may be a stupid question. I just bought my son a 1995 Grand Cherokee (Laredo) a few weeks ago. The liftgate doesn't work (know that when I bought it) and now the front door doesn't close all the way (latching mechanism won't engage). I have the chance to get both from a salvage 1994 model. Can anyone tell me that those years are compatible? My understanding is that they are, but I'd like to know for sure before I by them. Thank you so much!

It is my understanding and I'm not an expert, but AFAIK all the body parts are the same from 93 to 98. Like I said, IDK for sure, but I wanted to get your thread started.

I'm pretty sure the door latch is the same and the last time I went to my Pick&Pull, there wasn't a hatch left in the yard that wasn't rotted on the bottom edge. Most salvage yards have an interchange guide that should tell you for sure.

 

The 93-95 model years are the same. 96-98 share most of the exterior body panels with the 93-95. The interiors are different between the 93-95 and 96-98 models.

Yes, they are compatible. You can go to your local pick 'n' pull and get parts from any '93-'98 ZJ Grand Cherokee (ZJ is the body style from '93-'98). If you're swapping interior parts, you'll need to find a '93-'95 ZJ.
