Looking to get rid of my clutch fan and put in an electric one. Someone told me that one from a wj would bolt right up to where the fan shroud mounts on my zj.

I'm pretty sure it will. Just look at a WJ to be sure. You'll also need the fan relay and temp sensor if you want it to work right.
Some of my friends with classic hot rods just wire them to run with the ignition on.

That's what i was thinking. I could make it fit if I had to but that's more work than needed. I'll just keep an eye out at the local junk yard for a wj. Thanks

unless you do a Taurus fan, your mechanical one is gonna flow more air. and it's always working lolOriginally Posted by freegdr

Just like to get a little more power out of the motor. The clutch fan bogs down the motor.

That's why they went to a viscous clutch. A direct mechanical fan will draw up to 25 horses including the water pump. Some of the hot rod guys are even using electric water pumps.

Just a thought. The pre-99 4.0 was rated at 180 hp. After that they were rated at 185 hp. IMO, the difference was the lack of an engine driven fan.
