Climate control confusion help please?
We have a 97 jeep grand Cherokee limited 8cyl.
The better half said the air and heat only come out the middle dash ?
Went to the web which talks about the vacuum lines . Found the diagram under the hood that said the rear line on the passenger side intake goes to the 4x4, cruise control and climate control.
Traced the lines which broke of from being brittle and see that it only goes from intake to cruise, to something under the battery. I could not see any other areas that it goes to. Is there other areas that this one line goes to cause I am lost.
Had the battery out because I read the line to the box under the battery was normally the problem. When I got the tray up I saw the black box with one line on it?.?? It seems fine so Put it all back together after a visit to the jy to get newer hard and soft lines.
Funny thing happen after I put the power back to the car the selector for the climate worked for about 4 minutes. As I mover the selector around I could hear the doors and feel the diff vents blowing. ( while at the jy I got another control unit for a 20)
While at the jy I notice on several of the same models as mine that there was no vacuum line to the control? Is this normal ? Do the door run on vac or electric servos?
I am so lost
I then put the jy contoller in and again it worked for a few minutes but this time ahem placing in defrost I got an "er" in the display. I put the original back in. Still no vent selection
Please set em straight guys. .
Notes:
car was wrecked last year and the evap thing on the drivers side fender was making a clucking noise. While investigating it I found the hoses were simply placed. In the area behind the headlight hooked to nothing. What do they hook to ? And are there 3 or two? On the diagram there are 3 but I don't see them. I see the one from the intake to the evap pump and then the one leaving the pump but no others???
I keep reading that there is a vacuum ball under the bumper on the passenger side but I see nothing there except the thing under the battery? Like I said above I just don't get the diagram from the intake to the cruise to the climate, 4x4, it seems it only goes from the intake to the cruise to the black thing . Is there a vent off of the cruise that goes to the other 2 areas???

well if your 97 is anything like my 99 it runs on motor and i had a similar problem an i had to take the whole dash appart to get to the small door that the motor operates
I you take out your glove box and look just to the left their will be a small motor take it off and move the little *** that he motor moves and see if you can feel any movement like a flap closing and opening

Welcome to CF.
The Evap solenoid on the drivers inner fender is supposed to make a clicking noise as it functions. The following might help you a little.

Wow that really helped ! Thank you so much!
Which series of book is this ? I may need to get it to see if there is a pic of the vac line to the climate control on the left side that I can't find. I'm having issues with the blower stuck in the middle position with automatic climate control
Thanks again so much
